Celebrating its 33rd visit and with plenty to keep the whole family at full throttle, historic Ripley Castle near Harrogate is revving up to host one of the longest-established events in the UK motoring calendar. Providing the perfect backdrop, the spectacular Show field will be reverberating to the roars of classic cars, motorcycles, vans, trucks and impressive ex-military vehicles.
There’ll be trade stands and auto jumble for the avid aficionado in the family, while the more ‘backseat driver’ can sit back and enjoy full arena displays and commentary- with refreshments, of course.
Photo-opportunities and chatting with other enthusiasts is also popular at these friendly events, as is bringing your own classic if you have one to exhibit.
Home to the Ingilby family for 26 generations, Ripley has plenty for all the family. Dogs on leads are allowed on the showfield, but not permitted elsewhere due to the deer which you might spot in the acres of parkland, but you can enjoy tiring the kids out around the woods and the huge lake! There are also glorious Gardens and Hothouses with national botanic collections, and if you’re more ‘corbel’ than ‘coupe’, there are fascinating Castle tours from 11am for a small additional fee.
Located 3 miles north of Harrogate, the show runs from 10am-4pm. At just £7 per adult and £2.50 for children, admission includes free parking, full access to the park, gardens and tea room.
Organiser Mark Woodward says; “We’re very lucky Sir Thomas and Lady Ingilby keep inviting us back! This event grows every year as there’s something for everyone, from the beautiful vehicles gleaming cars in sunshine, to all the history to explore. So pack a picnic and motor on down for a marvellous Spring Bank Holiday Monday!”
